Discomfort in social and working situations are natural. Add in Cultural and Racial differences and they intensify. Everyone finds themselves uncomfortable with others. This doesn't make you racist. You probably are just a bit sheltered, uncultured, and ignorant.

Think that your classmate obviously worked harder and are impressed with discipline and obvious intellect
Are happy for them but your whiteness does wonder if it is TRULY possible that a Black person could be smarter and more hardworking than you
You think they must have gotten some really smart individual to help them
Ask them if they would be willing to be "Study Buddies" so that you can pick their brain
Absolute bewilderment that a person of color could be a better student than you
5. You see a Black Man with a very beautiful White Woman You
Pretend that you are interested in what the person you are speaking with is saying as you sneak stares at them
Are happy to see that people are not allowing skin color to keep them from getting to know one another
Discomfort: You are all for being accepting of others but feel that she could've found a nice White Guy to be with
Wish it were you and think the Brotha's Real Lucky
Think he must be using her
Think that maybe the "Well-Endowed Black Man" Myth might be true

Hope they don't notice your sneak stares in their direction

7. Work Situation: You have been with the company for two years and notice that your white bosses have taken a great deal of interest in your co-worker who is a Black Woman, so much so that after only one year and a half of her being employed with the compan
Start looking at other companies for potential employment, obviously your skills are being overlooked
Get to know her better, hell maybe she can put in a good word for you
Think your bosses especially the male ones must be attracted to her
Wonder if her credentials are truly legit
Think this is a great example of how Affirmative Action Policies are Totally UNFAIR!
8. A new person has just been hired. The person is black. You notice that while they are totally Professional they aren't too out-going and don't seem interested in any getting to know their co-workers any better, You
Figure they must be shy and always make a point of inviting them to hang out with the rest of the crew after-hours
Leave them be, hey some people just come to work to do their jobs
Are somewhat bothered by their apparent aloofness and think they are stuck-up
Are impressed with their Professionalism
Are somewhat put-off; the other black people you've worked with in the past were always very gregarious and open and you wonder what their problem is
Wonder if they don't like White People

Make sure that you invite them to hang out after-hours with the rest of the crew
think that they are great and are happy to have such a cool person to hang out with at work
Think they are great but wish they would take it down a notch
Are not surprised by their behavior, most black people have a great sense of humor
wonder if they Always have something witty to say and secretly envy that you don't
Wish they could be more professional

Wish they would try to hide their glee just a bit and keep it down
Wish the White Girl had won so that you could have something to talk about
13. You are in History class. The class is studying the period of Slavery. A Black Student raises their hand and makes the statement that: Lincoln only freed the slaves to punish those southern states that has seceded from the union and could've cared less wh
A little taken aback. Thought Lincoln did free the slaves purely to punish the south, he did FREE the slaves and after the civil war all slavery did end
Feel that although your classmate makes a valid point, you think they are being a little too hard on Lincoln. Out of all the Presidents Lincoln probably did more for Blacks during that time than any other President
Agree with the first part of their statement but STRONGLY disagree with the second part of it
Wonder why this particular classmate always has something provacative to say
