  1. What is your age?
  2. What is your gender?
  1. "How do manage to be such a nice person all the time?",Cedric asked as you both walked towards the castle. You laughed. "I think you're getting mixed up!",you said. "I'm not a nice person. You only think that because you've never seen me when I'm grumpy!". Cedric laughed. You waved to him briefly as he went down the stairs to the Hufflepuff common room. You returned to the Gryffindor common room.
  2. On Tuesday morning you woke with a start. For a moment you wondered why you felt terrible. Then you remebered. The first task was today. You dressed with the feeling of about a thousand butterflys in your stomach. Time was behaving in a more peculiar fashion than ever, rushing past in great dollops, so that one moment you seemed to be sitting down in your first lesson, History of Magic, and the next, walking into lunch...and then (where had the morning gone? the last of the dragon-free hours?), Professor McGonagall was hurrying over to you and Harry in the Great Hall. Lots of people were watching. "Potter, Lupin, the champions have to come down onto the grounds now....You have to get ready for your first task." "Okay," said Harry, standing up, his fork falling onto his plate with a clatter. You stood as well. "Good luck", Hermione whispered. "You'll be fine!" "Yeah," said Harry in a voice that was most unlike his own. You both left the Great Hall with Professor McGonagall. She didn't seem herself either; in fact, she looked nearly as anxious as Hermione. As she walked you down the stone steps and out into the cold November afternoon, she put her right hand on your left shoulder, and her other hand on Harry's shoulder. "Now, don't panic," she said, "just keep a cool head....We've got wizards standing by to control the situation if it gets out of hand....The main thing is just to do your best, and nobody will think any the worse of you....Are you all right?" "Yes," you heard yourself say. "Yes,fine." She was leading you toward the place where the dragons were, around the edge of the forest, but when you approached the clump of trees behind which the enclosure would be clearly visible, you saw that a tent had been erected, its entrance facing you, screening the dragons from view.
  3. "You're to go in here with the other champions," said Professor McGonagall, in a rather shaky sort of voice, "and wait for your turn. Mr. Bagman is in there...he'll be telling you the - the procedure.... Good luck." "Thanks," said Harry, in a flat, distant voice. She left you at the entrance of the tent. You looked at each other and then entered. Fleur Delacour was sitting in a corner on a low wooden stool. She didn't look nearly as composed as usual, but rather pale and clammy. Viktor Krum looked even surlier than usual, which you supposed was his way of showing nerves. Cedric was pacing up and down. When you entered, Cedric gave him a small smile, which you returned, feeling the muscles in your face working rather hard, as though they had forgotten how to do it. "Harry!_____! Good-o!" said Bagman happily, looking around at you. "Come in, come in, make yourself at home!" Bagman looked somehow like a slightly overblown cartoon figure, standing amid all the pale-faced champions. He was wearing his old Wasp robes again. "Well, now we're all here - time to fill you in!" said Bagman brightly. "When the audience has assembled, I'm going to be offering each of you this bag" - he held up a small sack of purple silk and shook it - "from which you will each select a small model of the thing you are about to face! There are different - er - varieties, you see. And I have to tell you something else too...ah, yes...your task is to collect the golden egg!" You glanced around. Cedric had nodded once, to show that he understood Bagman's words, and then started pacing around the tent again; he looked slightly green. Fleur Delacour and Krum hadn't reacted at all. Perhaps they thought they might be sick if they opened their mouths; that was certainly how you felt. But they, at least, had volunteered for this... And in no time at all, hundreds upon hundreds of pairs of feet could be heard passing the tent, their owners talking excitedly, laughing, joking....you felt as separate from the crowd as though they were a different species. And then - it seemed like about a second later - Bagman was opening the neck of the purple silk sack.
  4. "Ladies first," he said, offering it to Fleur Delacour. She put a shaking hand inside the bag and drew out a tiny, perfect model of a dragon - a Welsh Green. It had the number two around its neck And you knew, by the fact that Fleur showed no sign of surprise, but rather a determined resignation: Madame Maxime had told her what was coming. "Ms.Lupin,he said holding the bag out to you. You put your hand in the bag. When you withdrew your hand, you were holding the Antipodean Opaleye. It had the number four around his neck.
  5. Viktor withdrew the Chinese Fireball, with a number three. Cedric pulled out a Swedish short-snout and a number one.Harry got the Hungarian Horntail. A few moments later, cedric was called out to face the dragon. It was than you could have imagined, sitting and listening. The crowd gasped, cheered and screamed. You began retracing Cedric's steps,Fleur doing the same on the other side of the tent.
  6. After about fifteen minutes, you heard a deafening roar, which had to mean Cedric had gotten the egg.Next was Fleur, and the same thing went on,and she was done. Viktor went out next, and before you knew it,it was your turn. "Good luck..",Harry whispered hoarsly as you left.
  7. There were hundreds and hundreds of faces staring down at you, making a great deal of noise. Whether friendly noise or not,you didn't care, all you had to do now was focus. There were two massive walls of stones on either side of the enclosure. "REDUCTO!!",you shouted pointing your wand at the one on your right. You ran to the other side of the enclosure as rocks began raining down, many of them hitting the dragon on *HER* (sorry!)back. She flew up,and you caught sight of the eggs. You couldn't help laughing as the dragon began attacking the wall. You sprinted past, praying she wouldn't notice. You strechted out your right arm,as you were holding your wand in the left. The dragon whipped around, letting out a deafening roar. She sent a vivid scarlet burst of fire at you. It missed you by an inch, ruffling your clothes. "EXPECTO PATRONUM!!",you yelled, sending your panther streaking down in the opposite direction.
  8. The dragon went flying after it,leaving you free to get the golden egg. You grabbed it and the crowd gave another deafening roar. "Would you look at that!",roared Bagman. "Our youngest champion so far took barely five minutes to get the egg!! Incredible!". "That was excellent, Lupin!", cried Professor McGonagall as you left the enclosure- which from her was extravagant praise. You noticed that her hand shook as she pointed at your arm that had been burned by the dragon, although you had barely noticed. "You'll need to see Madam Pomfrey before the judges give out your score....Over there, she's had to mop up Diggory already...." "Yeh did it, ______!" said Hagrid hoarsely. "Yeh did it!" "Thanks, Hagrid," you grinned. Professor Moody looked very pleased too; his magical eye was dancing in its socket. "Nice and easy does the trick, Lupin," he growled. "Right then, Lupin, the first aid tent, please..." said Professor McGonagall. You saw Madam Pomfrey standing at the mouth of a second tent, looking worried.
  9. You could make out Cedric's silhoutte i the tent,as it had been split into cubicules. He was sitting up at least... You heard Harry getting the egg,and then entering the tent. Later on you heard Hermione and Ron enter the tent.
  10. "You were brilliant!" Hermione said squeakily. There were fingernail marks on her face where she had been clutching it in fear. "You were amazing! You really were!" You looked at Ron, who was very white and staring at Harry as though he were a ghost. "Harry,_____" he said, very seriously, "whoever put your name in that goblet - I - I reckon they're trying to do you in!". "Caught on, have you?" said Harry coldly. "Took you long enough." You and Hermione stood nervously between them, looking from one to the other. Ron opened his mouth uncertainly. Harry seemed to know Ron was about to apologize and didn't need to hear it. "It's okay," he said, before Ron could get the words out. "Forget it." "No," said Ron, "I shouldn't've -" "Forget it, "Harry said. Ron grinned nervously at him, and Harry grinned back. Hermione burst into tears. "There's nothing to cry about!" you told her."You two are so stupid!" she shouted, stamping her foot on the ground, tears splashing down her front. Then, before any of you could stop her, she had given all of you a hug and dashed away, now positively howling. You went outside to see your score. Madam Maxime shot nine into the air. Crouch shot a number nine into the air. Dumbledore shot nine into the air as well. Bagman gave you a ten,and Karkaroff gave you seven.
  11. "_____,you're in first place!",shouted Charlie Wesaley happily. "Listen I've got to send Mum an owl,Bagman told me to tell you and Harry to go back to the tent,he wants a word".You and Harry returned to the tent, and you saw the others there. Half of Cedric's face was covered in a thick orange paste, healing his burn. He grinned at you and Harry. You stood next to him, looking up at him. "Yuck",you said. Cedric laughed and pushed you playfully.
  12. "Well done, all of you!" said Ludo Bagman, bouncing into the tent and looking as pleased as though he personally had just got past a dragon. "Now, just a quick few words. You've got a nice long break before the second task, which will take place at half past nine on the morning of February the twenty-fourth - but we're giving you something to think about in the meantime! If you look down at those golden eggs you're all holding, you will see that they open...see the hinges there? You need to solve the clue inside the egg - because it will tell you what the second task is, and enable you to prepare for it! All clear? Sure? Well, off you go, then!" You began walking back to the castle.
